Trish put the letter she'd been reading back into the in-tray.

"I wasn't aware that we had a relationship Mr Porter," she said demurely.

Her boss smiled comfortably. "Not yet Trish. That's what I want to discuss with you."

Trish returned his smile but her eyes were cold.

"I don't want a relationship with you so there's nothing to discuss."

"Let's have a drink and we'll talk about it shall we?

"I really don't want to talk about it and I'd rather not drink while I'm working."

"Well you've have to stop working then. Just have a little one, I can't drink on my own Trish."

"Okay, I'll have a tonic water if it makes you happy."

He walked to the small cabinet and took out two glasses. "Have a vodka in it, yes?"

"Just the tonic please. I don't need alcohol to talk."

She watched him carefully, concerned that he would try to put vodka into her drink but he poured the tonic from a fresh bottle and showed her the glass.

"Ice?"

"Yes please."

He carried both drinks to the leather couch and sat down.

"Sit next to me."

"I remember what happened the last time I sat next to you. I'd rather not repeat the experience thanks."

"I get the feeling that you don't like me much Trish."

"It's not that," she lied. "I'm not interested in you sexually that's all."

"Okay, I promise you that I won't lay a finger on you. Just sit next to me."

Trish didn't have any arguments left and he was still her boss. She decided to humour him. She sat as far from him as the couch would allow and sipped at her tonic water.

"So what happened Trish?" he said softly. "Why do you call me Mr. Porter now - it used to be Chas?"

"I just thought it was too familiar," replied the youngster.

Her voice was subdued as she nervously wondered where this was going to lead.

"You are my boss after all and I thought we should... You know.. be more sort of... well, businesslike."

"I see," sighed her boss. He attempted a friendly smile but Trish didn't respond. She knew him for what he was now and it was going to take a lot more than a smile to turn her round. He tried another tack.

"I seem to remember that we were pretty familiar the first time we met. You appear to have gone cold on me since then. Have I done something to offend you?"

"N-no, not really," mumbled Trish.

The young girl cursed herself for getting so tongue-tied every time she spoke to her boss. It was difficult to deny that even though she disliked him intensely, she still felt drawn to him sexually. The worst of it was, he seemed somehow to know that she still felt that way.

She could not deny the strange attraction, that she felt for him, to herself but she was determined that nothing would ever happen between the two of them. She had tried to be polite and firm but he still refused to accept that she wasn't interested.

She decided, at that moment, that it was time that they settled the myth that she was going to fall into his arms one day. The only way left, that she could think of, was to threaten to leave. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves.

"I'm sorry if you've somehow got the wrong idea about me Mr Porter but I'm not interested in having an affair with you. If you want me to leave because of that then I suppose I'll have to look for another job."

"There's no need for that Trish. Your job doesn't depend on me fucking you."

Trish breathed a sigh of relief. "Well I'm glad we've sorted that out."

She drained her glass and stood up. "I've still got lots to do before I go."

"Leave it Trish. Sit down. I haven't finished yet."

She looked perplexed. "I thought we'd agreed that nothing was going to happen - what else is there?"

"I told you when you came here that I wanted to fuck you. I haven't changed my mind about that."

"You also said you'd wait for me to ask you. Well that isn't going to happen so what's to discuss?"

"Sit down and I'll tell you."

She sat reluctantly and crossed her hands primly on her lap. If he wanted to talk, then she'd let him. If he wanted to pay her for sitting and doing nothing, it was his loss. She couldn't see what was left to talk about but she knew enough about his devious methods to make her nervous.

Charles Porter lounged back and stretched his legs out in front of him. His jacket was open and Trish noticed, for the first time, that he had a paunch. It was obvious from the bulge in his trousers that he also had an erection. He followed the direction of her eyes and laughed......(cont)
