I put on a pair off cotton jeans and a white tshirt, I took my cap off the coat hooks and placed it over my head and opened my door and locked it and I headed towards the woods stopping at the shop to buy a bottle of coke, at eight thirty I made it to the gates of the woods, after walking past a road that lead to a block off flats I walked through the gates and was in the woods I took my binoculars out their case and put them up to my eyes and scanned the trees and I got a woodpecker in my sight and I watched it, it was pecking at the tree for food.

I was then distracted by a scream and a shout of "Kim dead bird over here".

I panned the binoculars in the direction to where the voice was coming from and through the trees I saw two young girls bending over looking at the ground one off them had a stick and they were prodding at something.

I scanned to their right and left to see if anyone else was about the area was clear, so I decided to head towards the little girls and see what kind of bird it was, there was a path up to the place where they were and I walked up it and got level to the girls.

I looked over to them "what you got there kids".

The both of them looked up at me they were about twenty metres away from me, one of the girls were wearing a striped pink and white dress this one had short brown hair, the other one wore pink shorts and a white vest like thing, they both looked at one another then back and me and the brown headed one called to me.

"A dead bird".

"Can I come closer to see".

"Ye come see".

Very trusting they were so I walked over to them and I knelt down and picked up the bird from the ground it was a green woodpecker and it was a little bit warm.

"Oooo yuck", the one in the pink shorts and long blonde hair said.

"Do yous know what kind off bird it is".

"No", they both chirped at me in sweet little voices.

"What's your names anyway I'm Dav".

"I'm Kim", the girl in the pink shorts said to me.

"And I'm Becky", she was wearing the striped dress. ......(cont)
