Honor a Last Request

      John O'Riley was a successful doctor in Providence, Rhode Island. He had opened his practice with another doctor about seven years ago, with his associate William Thompson. Their business, O'Riley and Thompson sounded more like a law firm than a medical practice, but they probably served the public better or at least as good as anyone else in the state. John treated people who had suffered from broken bones as he was a orthopedic specialist and not only fixed the body of his patients but also could heal some emotional damage with his kind personality.

      On the night of January the 20th, at seven o'clock John closed the door to his office, then shut off the light, and turned the brass door knob of his office just enough to make sure it was locked. John had done this for almost eight years now and said goodbye before leaving, to William, who usually stayed until seven- thirty. They had both known each other since medical school and grew up only eighty miles away from where they now worked.......(cont)
