How was I going to perform my job on her if I couldn't concentrate when she wasn't even present.      I started cleaning my studio as the clock approached 6 p.m., and kept watching the seconds tick. What if he didn't call back and verify the appointment? Could I handle the disappointment?      6 came and went with no phone call. I sighed in resignation, and began shutting the shop up.      I had just switched the light off and was about to lock the door when the jangling of the phone caused me to jump.
