I got married for the first time three years ago. Janet had been married young and had a nine-year-old daughter. I wasn't used to having to deal with children and definitely not one as precocious as this one. She used to run around the house in her underwear, oblivious to the fact there was a man there. Janet said not to worry about it, it's just a phase she's going through. Pretty soon she'll be so shy she won't even want you to see her bare ankle.
I hoped so. I was not the type to lust after nine-year-olds, but Alicia was not your average nine-year-old. She was one of those that people would say she's going to break a lot of hearts when she grows up. I had no doubt that she was already breaking some hearts in school, if I knew anything about adolescent boys.
