Dave was on vacation from work, taking an extra week off after the Thanksgiving holiday, and he was staying with his parents. It was a great holiday, the entire family together for a big feast, all sharing in the new stories and experiences as they were all living apart while Dave worked and lived alone, and the two younger kids were away at college.

The usual family ritual was for the hot tub at night, as many of them as possible fitting into the tub that was just outside the kitchen door on the raised deck in the backyard. It was a regular family ritual, especially during the winter days when the cold weather made the hot, steaming water all that much more enjoyable.

Dave joined his brother and sister and his mom in the tub, their father preferring to remain inside and watch TV. The four of them bonded in the tub, sharing a cold bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay as they laughed and shared stories of their most recent adventures. The night rolled along with drunken laughs and stories, the hot bubbling water frothing over their bodies as they all enjoyed the night.

His brother and sister left to return to school, and his father was headed back onto the road for business. Dave decided to remain home for half of the week, enjoying the relaxation of being home and keeping his mom company with his dad on the road. He helped with cleaning up the house after the occupancy of the entire family, and he continued to catch up with his mom. Although not the most exciting of times off, it was nice to catch up with his mom and help her in putting the house back together.

There was a strong bond between the two of them, as he had been born when his mom was very young. Linda was only 19 when David was born, an earlier than expected pregnancy, but nothing near a mistake or unwanted one. Linda was desperately in love with her husband, and they had planned on getting married and having children, just not so fast.

At 19, Linda kind of learned the ropes and figured out her way with young David. As he grew older, their bond grew stronger as the age gap between them was not that big. Separated by only 19 years, there was much less of a generation gap between the two of them than there is with most parents and children. This was actually a unique bond, as they shared everything and there was not much about his life that David had not shared with his mother. In fact, he usually shared too much with his mother, but that simply added to the strength of their bond.

They had had a nice dinner together, listening to familiar songs on the stereo when his mother suggested they hit the hot tub.

"It's nice and cold tonight," she told him. "If we are going to just sit here and chat we might as well enjoy it in the tub." David agreed and grabbed a couple towels as his mother got changed into her bathing suit.....(cont)
