Tom Teaches His Daughter A Lesson
Written by Abear
Neither of her parents ever expected her to work, or have to work for a living, as they had set up her finances with a trust fund and other investments that would insure her financial well being for a long time. College was to be a means for her to find a husband. They had planned on her marrying into a wealthy family, and using the wealth from her marriage to offset her own financial background. They were shocked when she married a middle class man with little family to speak of.
Tom hailed from the working class suburb's of Dallas, and his parents were long divorced. His father had been a rigger in the oil fields, and although he did not make a lot of money, he did provide for his family. Similar to Julie's parents, his parents focused his upbringing on a certain goal, and his goal was to go to college. They worked with him on his homework and academics, and he was able to earn a scholarship to school. When Julie and Tom met in class one day, their lives took off on a path that they would travel together.
Although they hailed from different backgrounds, they were fairly similar people. They were both bright and attractive, and both were athletic and interested in keeping their bodies in shape. They shared a love for academics that helped them both do better in school. They would study together, and help each other in class and test preparation. Tom was head over heals in love with her, and he could not care less if she had money or not. Julie was in love also, except she had to deal with the pressures from her family, and the fact that Tom was not from "money," like the husband that they had hoped she would find.
They liked Tom well enough, he was a good boy, but he just was not what they had envisioned their daughter to end up with. They did realize that they were both in love, and her parents planned on helping them out as best they could. The wedding followed college almost immediately, and it was a large, spectacular affair. With a degree in Marketing, and solid academic credentials, Julie's father hired Tom as a marketing executive, and thus insured that their daughter would live the life they had planned for her.
Life went on very well for the both of them, and their love remained true and strong. Julie helped acclimate Tom to the new social level that his life was at, and Tom served as a counter balance, using his blue collar past to keep their lives rooted in reality. It was not too long after they were married that Cindy was born.
When Cindy came into their lives, it was as if the circle was closed. They now had a daughter with whom they could share their life and love, as well as their dreams and hopes. She was a beautiful child, and she inherited all of the best qualities from Tom and Julie, and an unexpected rebel streak. It was this rebellious side of her that caused her mother to worry and fret.
"You know, however wrong or haughty it may have seemed to me when I was younger," she confided in Tom one night after Cindy went to bed. "I can really understand and appreciate what my mother had tried to for me."
"You mean to steer you away from guys like me?" he responded with a laugh, and they both chuckled at her comments. Tom understood and accepted his mother in law, and her reasons for wanting Julie to have a good life. He too wanted the same thing for his daughter, and he worked with his wife on giving her the best of everything. It was this dark side to her that troubled them both.
She loved to cause mischief, and she loved to tease people. She also had no problem being mean to others, and try as they might, Tom and Julie could not get her to change her behavior. Julie tried her best to change her, and make her into the proper young woman who would attract a well groomed suitor. Nothing worked, and as she grew older, things got worse.
Cindy started to hang with the wrong crowd at school, and she really rebelled against her parent's wishes. She had no interest in being the "good girl," and she enjoyed doing things that drove her mother nuts. When she turned 12, she and the other girls at school all took a keen interest in boys. When they would hang out at her house, her friends all joked and kidded her about how cute her father was. Like most girls her age, she had a big crush on her dad, and he was the world to her......(cont)
